India lost the opening ODI international to Australia by 65 runs in MCG ground yesterday.
And everyone was shocked to see that opener Virender Shewag not played in the match, but the captain MS Dhoni has told media that it was a team decision to rest the Viru 1st ODI against Australia.
While talking to media about not playing Sehwag in the 1st ODI, captain MS Dhoni said, “It’s not about (his) injury. Quite a few other players have niggles. If you want to make Rohit play, an experienced player can come and go out of the side.”
Dhoni said, “But for Rohit, it may be tough later, if he doesn’t get going now, you could find him playing in tougher later-half without much practice. It’s a long series.”
Meanwhile, fans of the Indian cricket team were really sad not to see the opener Sehwag in the middle, he is in tremendous form and he has the ability to change the tings within couple of overs.
Virender Shewag is the batsman who recelty hit double hundred against West Indies in Indore in 2011, he hit superb 219 runs in that match.
On the other hand, there are gossips that fast bowler Zaheer Khan, who already missed three matches in a row, due to his knee injury, may play in the coming ODI.
Talking on Zaheer Khan’s fitness, captain MS Dhoni said, “Zak has a problem with his knee. But it’s not major and he would be fit for the later games.”
