Australia ready to face India on Boxing Day: Brad Haddin

It is now less than 24 hours, when the first test match will start between India and Australia. Both the teams are fully prepared for the Boxing Day now.

In a statement to media, the Australia wicketkeeper-batsman Brad Haddin states that the team has put behind it the recent loss to New Zealand and is fully prepared to take on India in the four-Test series starting at the MCG on Monday.

Talking to media, Haddin ahead of the Boxing Day Test said, “I think we are in a very good space. We have had a week to prepare. We couldn’t be more prepared and more looking forward to the game.”

Team Anna getting ready for Lokpal stir

In a report issued by some close sources of Anna Hazare team, preparations are high to put in order the MMRDA grounds in Mumbai ahead of activist Anna Hazare’s three-day fast beginning on Tuesday for a strong Lokpal Bill.

Meanwhile, members from India Against Corruption (IAC) group are doing the supervision of the preparations and have finalized the security details and other facilities.

Talking to media, IAC volunteer Anjali Damania said, “We have already submitted plans as to how the ground will look for the three days during the Annaji’s fast. The ground will be ready by 9pm on Monday.”

Further, she said, “Fire extinguishers have been put up at all major spots and fire brigade tenders will be stationed at two places at the venue. There will be a VIP and media enclosure too.”

According to her, all the required medical facilities, along three ambulances, too will be on standby.

Union Budget may be postponed: sources

After deciding the date 4 Feb. to start five poll-bound states assembly elections, now the schedule for the Union Budget is expected to be postponed for few days.

A government sources report said, “The Union budget and Railway budget are likely to be tabled in the first week of March”

The delay in the Union Budgeting is only due to assembly elections in five states – Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur – and when these are over the budget will be scheduled.

On the basis of early declaration, the Budget will be published in parliament on 29 February by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, a day after the final phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh.

However the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh will be tabled in seven phases on February 4, 8, 11, 15, 19, 23 and 28 and not putting impact of the final phase of UP elections on Budget, the decision will be taken to tabled it after completion of polls.

9 babies die at Malda Hospital in West Bengal

While death of 6 infant in 6 hours during Thursday- Friday at Malda Sadar Hospital, aged between 1 and 70 days, there are next three more infant died at same Hospital on Saturday.

Now the death rate is going to nine in the past two days, three died in the hospital today, six other died last two days.

Superintendent of the hospital, Dr R R Samanta said, “Most of the babies were suffering from respiratory problems due to the severe cold wave sweeping the district. We tried our best to treat them, but could not.”

From November 8, 128 children died in this hospital out of them there were 15 infants.

And for baby’s safety, a Sick Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) was inaugurated in the hospital this month.

And, at Imperial College London, the scientist has found a new study that if all of UK’s discarded wrapping paper and Christmas cards were collected and fermented, they could make enough bio-fuel to run a double-decker bus to the moon and back more than 20 times.

According to the researchers estimation, this amount of discarded waste paper could help to produce provide 5-12 million liters of biofuel that could easily turn into transportation fuel like diesel and petrol and helping in reduction of the impact of fossil fuels on the environment.
