After deciding the date 4 Feb. to start five poll-bound states assembly elections, now the schedule for the Union Budget is expected to be postponed for few days.
A government sources report said, “The Union budget and Railway budget are likely to be tabled in the first week of March”
The delay in the Union Budgeting is only due to assembly elections in five states – Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur – and when these are over the budget will be scheduled.
On the basis of early declaration, the Budget will be published in parliament on 29 February by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, a day after the final phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh.
However the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh will be tabled in seven phases on February 4, 8, 11, 15, 19, 23 and 28 and not putting impact of the final phase of UP elections on Budget, the decision will be taken to tabled it after completion of polls.
Moreover Manipur will be the first to vote on January 28 whereas the elections in Goa will be held on March 3.
