Director of Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) , David Petraeus on Friday resigned after accused by FBI in a probe with full evidence to be red handed over an extramarital affair.
As per FBI, one of America’s most decorated four-star generals, David’s behaviour was “unacceptable” as having affair with his biographer, Paula Broadwell, a journalist and a model for a machine gun manufacturer.
While accepting and acknowledged poor judgement in affairs with Broadwell found guilty, David said, as per source, “After being married for over 37 years, I showed extremely poor judgement by engaging in an extramarital affair. Such behaviour is unacceptable, both as a husband and as the leader of an organisation such as ours.”
According to source, still it was not cleared that whether Broadwell is the woman with whom Petraeus has admitted having an affair, but FBI investigations was not for Petraeus’s wrongdoing.
Petraeus affairs were going on while he met with Broadwell in Afghanistan during interviewing her for the book she co-wrote, “All In: The Education of General David Petraeus”. Both spent a year together.
Their relationship affair discovered by FBI after monitoring Petraeus’ emails, after being alerted Broadwell may have had access to his personal email account, source said.
Meanwhile, President Barack Obama accepted his resignation triggering waves across White House’s intelligence departments.
During his extraordinary career, David has provided successful services in US Army operations in both Iraq and Afghanistan battlefield which still praised by the nation. After that he became chief of the spy agency CIA in September 2011.
“As director of the Central Intelligence Agency, he has continued to serve with characteristic intellectual rigor, dedication and patriotism,” Obama said while accepting David’s resignation and appreciating his extraordinary services.
