Fresh Auto sector news reveals that Maruti Suziki India [MSI], the country’s largest car manufacturer, has today announced to increase the car prices by up to Rs 17,000 after the recent hike in the excise duty in the Budget.
It is said in reports that the hike in car prices will affect Maruti’s models ranging from small car segment M800 to mid-sized cars like Sedan SX4.
While talking to media, MSI Managing Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Mr. Mayank Pareek said, “There has been an average increase in prices of our vehicles by 1.75 per cent after the Budget.”
As per the new pricing list, the best selling model of the company, Alto (800 cc) will now cost Rs 4,200 to Rs 5,900 more. As per note relelased by the company on its official website, it will now cost from Rs 2.4 lakh to Rs 3.42 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The new price tag for Alto K10 has been hiked by Rs 5,500 to Rs 5,700, and it will now cost at Rs 3.14 lakh and Rs 3.30 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Wagon R, yet another model selling model of the company, will now be costlier by Rs 6,000 to Rs 7,600. It comes with new price tag of Rs 3.47 lakh to Rs 4.37 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The company’s premium hatchback Swift will now cost Rs 7,700 to Rs 11,900 more depending on variants. Swift will be priced between Rs 4.44 lakh and Rs 6.76 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
On the other hand, the freshly launched Swift Dzire will be costlier by Rs 8,500 to Rs 12,700. The new price tag for it is Rs 4.8 lakh and Rs 7.51 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
MSI’s Mid-sized sedan SX4 will now cost Rs 9,400 to Rs 17,000 more. It will now cost from Rs 7.11 lakh to Rs 9.39 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The statement issued by the company said that the car prices were increased due to the 2 percent hike in the excise duty. In the Budget 2012-13, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee announced that excise duty to 12 per cent from 10 per cent.
