Vijay Mallya promises salaries by 4th April, cancels 10 fights

Kingfishers, the cash –scrapped airline is now completely under grounded situation as Monday called a full lock out day for it as a number of pilots, engineers, cabin crew and staff refused to call on duty in form of protest outstanding salaries payments.

This denied has cancelled ten flights from Mumbai and Delhi, fearing to more cancellations, KFA promoter Vijay Mallya has promised to start making salaries payments from 4 April.

In his written promising letter, Mallya, said, “the formalities of un-freezing our bank accounts was completed on March 31 following our payment of Rs 44 crore to the Income Tax and Rs 20 crore to the Service Tax authorities.”

His motive to pay first to employees for their undue, he further said, “All junior staff will be paid before the Easter that is on April 4th. All pilots and engineers will be paid on April 9th and April 10th.”

Clarifying his failure and reason to stagger the pay, Mallya claimed of having three bank holidays this week on April 2, 5 and 6.

The management called a meeting in Mumbai with employees who protest for their serious payments, resolving the situation. It was the outcome of issuing a notice by employees to pay two months’ salaries and dues by 8 PM tomorrow and clear the remaining dues by April 20.

It has said that having pressure from investors, over 40-50 per cent of its staff has left out and many domestic sectors including international operations are completely ended.

From past few months, KFA, 1.3 billion USD debt-laden carriers, cancelled its several flights to 28 of its 56 destinations, including Hyderabad and Kolkata.

Earlier, KFA hits 400 flights a day, but now operating just 100 flights, which creates financial problems for the company.
