Environment Ministry will take decision on hydel project in Arunachal Pradesh

The chances of giving acceptance for the 1,750 MW Demwe Lower Hydro Electric project across Arunachal Pradesh’s Lohit river, which originates from China is going to be high.

While addressing a meeting of the Standing Committee of National Board for Wildlife (NBWL), the Environment Minister Jayanthi Natarajan asked to take quick action on a proposed project that demanded by the state government.

As got PMO’s permission for the project, now the work of project will be started as soon as possible for maintaining the Arunachal Pradesh’s water and energy security.

It may be expected that China can be gain the opportunity of the dam’s construction in the river that flows through Tibet and India and it will be a big loss for India govt. as if at first, Government build dam in the river without making any delay then the people of the state would get “first user rights” as per international norms.

But if we see the analyzed report of environmentally expert, the project will lead to many harmful impacts on the system of ecology and habitat of forest animal. Even people of Assam, the neigbhour of Arunachal Pradesh, will never left out from this project’s effect that will affect their livelihood too.

Meanwhile after made a big discussion on the mega hydel project, as per strong demand of Arunachal Pradesh’s government, PMO is finally give green signal and does not want to afford loss of any little delay on starting the work of project.
