Brahmos supersonic cruise missile, a joint project of India and Russia, performed successful its trial test today by Indian Army.

The missile having air launch range of up to 290 km with 200 to 300 kg carrying warhead capacity was test fired with two regiments of the Army at Chandipur off Odisha coast as part of user trial.

The defense official says, “The missile was test fired from a ground mobile launcher from the launch complex-3 at about 1122 hours and the trial was successful.”

This time cruise missile that is of two-stage, the first one being solid and the second one ramjet liquid propellant, has already been inducted operationally by two regiments of the Army.

Giving better job to Brahmos missile project, Indian defence scientist headed separately an Indo-Russian joint venture company, known as ‘Brahmos Aerospace’.

And an official reportedly said ‘Brahmos Aerospace’ is putting its efforts in operational to develop the air launch and submarine launch version of the missile project that is in progress.

However from 2005, Brahmos missile’s first version has inducted by the Indian Navy with INS Rajput, but now so far Indian Army has deployed it.

Further raised more expectation from Army, Ministry said to be allow them to go again for inducting a third regiment operation with the missile system to be deployed in Arunachal Pradesh along the China border.
