Lifetime Achievement Award to Waheeda Rehman at Mumbai Film Fest

The veteran Bollywood actress Waheeda Rehman will get the Lifetime Achievement Award at the upcoming 14th Mumbai Film Festival.

The event will start from October 18 and will go for eight days. It is organized by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI).

Talking to media, filmmaker and chairman of MAMI, Shyam Benegal said, “This year we have decided to award the Lifetime Achievement Award to Waheeda Rehman for the extraordinary work she has put in the last 60 years.”

It is said that Sudhir Mishra, Ramesh Sippy and Amit Khanna, chairman, Reliance Entertainment and trustee, MAMI, were also present there.

Meanwhile, the Reliance Entertainment announced that the festival will show around 200 films, including 9 silent films.

When asked to Ramesh Sippy about the highlights of the Festival, he said, “All I can say is that there is a feast awaiting you. The festival will have a lovely spread of cinema. Festivals are the best time to celebrate and enjoy cinema.”

Sippy said, “This year we have eight films from France and many more from Italy. I have been inspired by these films.”

It is said that the festival will also present screening of silent films with live orchestra and films from Afghanistan as well as restored classics from allover the globe.

Shyam Benegal said, “Prize winning and high quality films will be shown at the festival. It is a dream to have a festival like this.”
