No change in leadership in Maharashtra: Congress

The congress has today denied any leadership change in Maharashtra and said that Ajit Pawar’s registration from the post of deputy chief minister oft eh state will have no impact on the UPA government.

The Congress party added that Ajit Pawar’s resignation is a state issue and will be handled by chief minister Prithviraj Chavan.

When asked by media that whether chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, who is being targeted by some NCP leaders following Pawar’s resignation, will be replaced, Congress party spokesperson Rashid Alvi said, “No question. There is nothing like this.”

But, a senior party leader said that Ajit Pawar’s resignation is a worry for NCP. The party leader refused to be identified.

The party leader said, “Several NCP leaders were facing allegations of corruption, the chief minister’s image is “very clean.”

On the other hand, Rashid Alvi said, “The issue in Maharashtra is being looked after by the state unit, AICC-in charge of the state and the chief minister.”

Meanwhile, the NCP party plays an important role in the Congress-led UPA at the Centre.
