Prime Minister Manmohan Singh turns 80 today

The Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh has turned 80-years-old today, but officials said that Manmohan Singh will celebrate his birthday working as he has done in the past.

The Indian PM has a busy schedule today as he will distribute the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar awards and Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) awards on the organisation’s 70th Foundation Day function. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is the president of CSIR.

Talking to media, an official said, “He will work as usual (on his birthday)”

Further, the official said that some political leaders would make calls to PM to greet him.

On the other hand, the Prime Minister will have to come out of serious matters like FDI in multi-brand retail and cap on the number of LPG cylinders. Hike in the prices of Diesel also resulted the withdraw of support of the Trinamool Congress with the UPA-2.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was born in 1932 in Gah Begal village, now in Pakistan. Manmohan Singh along with his family shifted to India during partition.

When asked to the PM about his birth date, he said, “September 26 is shown in the school records as my date of birth.”
