Must be good news for those who loves sending bulk SMSes and MMSes to their loved ones, as the Government has today announced to lift the ban on bulk SMSes and MMSes.
The ban on bulk SMSes and MMSes were imposed by the central government after the nationwide rumours of attack on the northeast people and the govt ordered telecom sector to ban bulk SMS in the country.
The central government of the country on Thursday announced that the cut back on bulk SMS as well as MMS will remains but now customers can send 20 SMS per day instead of 5 a day.
As per the instruction released by Ministry of Communications, mobile users can send maximum of 20 SMSes with not more than 25kb of data from Thursday.
The central government has taken a hard decision to ban bulk SMS and MMS in the country for 15 days; this is due to rumours spread by using SMSes and MMSes which led Northeast exodus from states like Pune, Bangalore and Mumbai.
The decision was taken by the government after the reports that people are spreading misleading SMS and MMS to create panic in people of the country.
People of the country are not able to send more than 5 SMSes per day, but do you know that this is only applicable for prepaid users!
It is announced by the telecom operators that bulk SMSes is only applicable on prepaid customers.
Most of the telecom operators have prepaid customer, the limit on sending SMSes had disturbed the normal life of them. Talking to media, a prepaid user said, “We play football every Sunday and usually co-ordinate through messages on Saturday night. I had to call 25 people and inform them of the schedule personally.”
The situation of Northeast of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu has worsen and continually huge number of Northeasters flee from I-T city to Guwahati, among them 5000 are students and professionals who left their jobs, fearing the rumours triggered by SMSs and MMSes.
Union Home Secretary RK Singh blamed Pakistan for sourcing objectionable and threatening bulk SMSes and pictures of the recent violence in Assam in form of MMSes on the Internet that raised attacks in Northeast parts of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra led to Northeast exodus.
