Addressing a press, she said that there were several new faces come in the assembly and it was the responsibility of party members the import of the electoral verdict to be taken seriously.

As per Sonia, the failure of party is only because of several party leaders and she admitted that this was the main reason of lack of leadership.

Teaching all leaders who campaigned in Uttar Pradesh, she said, “I will say rather than the lack of leadership… actually we have too many leaders. Perhaps that’s our problem.”

Answering about facing defeat in the Assembly elections in the BJP-ruled States, she said, “We have Gujarat, then we have Himachal… Karnataka yes… we have to pull our socks up and get going.”

Both Gandhi and her son party general secretary Rahul Gandhi accepting publicly the responsibility for the failure in U.P. on Tuesday after analyze the results by finding out what or who went wrong.

Despite acceptance of failure, they also ensured that the assembly elections results would not have any impact on the stability of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) coalition.

But their commitment has failed at the time while Congress party’s MP from Sultanpur, Sanjay Singh and his wife Ameeta has spoken against UPA. Mr.Singh was the Congress‘ candidate for the Amethi seat in the UP assembly elections where Priyanka Gandhi campaigned for three days.

Over all this time is very difficult for Congress, especially for Sonia and Rahul, though General Secretary in charge of U.P. Digvijay Singh met her on Tuesday to have offered his resignation, but that was not accepted.
