Around 16 civilians killed in Afghanistan in US Attack

Series of Massacre near a U.S. base in Afghanistan still continue, the recent was on Sunday night in which 16 Afghan civilians, including nine children and 3 women, were shot dead on attack by U.S. forces.

As per source report, A U.S. soldier was detained after this attack in what three witnesses of village described regarding this.

This tragic incident happened while U.S. officials rushed to distance the apparent rogue shooting from efforts by a 90,000-strong U.S. force in Afghanistan.

As per witness report who’s loved one shot dead, a group of U.S. soldiers arrive at the village in Kandahar’s Panjwai district, an area considered the birthplace of the Taliban, at about 2 a.m., enter homes and open fire.

Haji Samad who lost his 11 relatives during attack, said, “Americans poured chemicals over their dead bodies and burned them.” Another witness claimed that all American troops were drunk and shooting all over the place. The victims’ bodies were riddled with bullets.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai called this attack an “intentional murders” and demanded an explanation from his counterpart U.S. President Barack Obama.

Dismissing witness accounts, a senior U.S. defence official in Washington said, “Based on the preliminary information we have this account is flatly wrong.”

The soldier who is in custody described as a staff sergeant from a unit based in Washington State, “walked back to the base and turned himself in to U.S. forces this morning” without having any military operations in the area.

However there is conflict about how many shooters were involved. On side U.S. officials claiming that a lone soldier was responsible while Witness accounts said there were several U.S. soldiers involved.

Promising to establish the facts quickly and “to hold fully accountable anyone responsible” with a full investigation, Obama said, “This incident is tragic and shocking and does not represent the exceptional character of our military and the respect that the United States has for the people of Afghanistan.”

Meanwhile this tragic night massacre is just linked with the revenge of the Koran-burning incident at a NATO base last month triggered widespread anti-Western protests in which at least 30 people were killed.
