Bharti Airtel announces 50 mn mobile users in Africa

According to the fresh reports, Bharti Airtel, India’s one of the leading mobile phone carrier, has recently announced that the company has reached a landmark of around 50 million customers in Africa, where it acquired mobile operations in 15 nations in a $9 billion deal in June 2010.

At present, the company operates in total 19 nations across Asia and Africa and is the world’s fifth-biggest mobile operator by subscribers.

In the meantime, Bharti Airtel has an internal goal to have 100 million customers in Africa by the end of March 2013.

While talking to media, the joint managing director and CEO (International), Manoj Kohli said, ““This milestone demonstrates our commitment to Africa. We have made significant investments in our operations and brought world-class IT, networks and customer care partners.”

On the other hand, a research report released by the Angel Broking said, “Bharti has been consistently adding about two million subscribers per quarter in its Africa business, leading to increase in minutes of usage. We remain positive on Bharti.”
