Before taking any steps regarding the auction of 2G spectrum, it should analyze the views of stakeholders, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) said on Wednesday in form of issuing consultation paper on auction scheme.

Announcing its decision, TRAI said, “On the basis of the comments received from the stakeholders on the pre-consultation paper and considering the international practices, the draft Consultation paper on “Auction of Spectrum” has been prepared.”

However on basis of Supreme Court’s order over judgment of cancellation of all 122 licences under 2008 allotment of 2G scam, TRAI had issued a pre-consultation paper on February 2012, on the issue of allocation of spectrum in 2G band in 22 Service Areas by auction. Read the rest of this entry…

Recently Government announced the auction of 2G spectrums that will be around on March 2013 and for sought out a June 2 deadline when Supreme Court judgement to cancel 122 licenses will stand quashed, government moved the Supreme Court on Thursday.

Last month, the Supreme Court directed on its landmark judgement to cancel 122 telecommunications licences awarded to companies in 2008 and said, they would need to transfer to other operators within the next four months.

But the Government says that it will take at least 400 days to complete a fresh auction of licences that will put impact over more than 69 million of the 900 million Indian subscribers. Read the rest of this entry…
