Ricky Ponting, who hit a superb double hundred against the touring team India on the 2nd day of the 4th test match, has been appointed an officer (AO) in the general division of the Order of Australia for notable service to the field of cricket in the past few years, while to the society through the concern of the Ponting Foundation.

Earlier in 2008, Ricky Ponting and his wife Rianna has made this organization to help the cancer patients.

Though, it was said that the two named suggested by the Sports Ministry to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) to be nominated for the first Bharat Ratna for a sportsman are those of hockey legend Dhyanchand and the man who first conquered Mt Everest, Tenzing Norgay.

It is not clear that why no other sport’s person name was suggested to the Prime Minister Office for the award. Moreover, the chess federation had suggested Viswanathan Anand’s name and the shooting federation Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra’s name, while the Sports Ministry have said that no other names have been suggested to them for the Bharat Ratan award.

Last year, he was the highest run scorer in IPL and he won the Orange Cap. Gayle played for RCS in the Champions League Twenty20, earlier, he was a team member of Kolkata Knight Riders in the first three IPL seasons.

While talking to media, Director of Royal Challengers Sports Pvt Ltd, Siddhartha Mallya said, “We are delighted to make Chris Gayle a permanent member of our IPL squad. He is one of the best batsmen in the world. His form helped us qualify for the final of the 2011 edition of the tournament.”

According to the latest reports from the world of cricket, the master blaster from India, Sachin Tendulkar makes a comeback for the tri-series in Australia.

Sachin has been selected in the expected 17-members of the team India. Sachin Tendulkar will now target to get his 100th international hundred in the tri-series which is set to start from February 5 to March 8 this year.

MS Dhoni will be leading the team India in the tri-series as well as the two Twenty20 match against Australia on February 1 in Sydney and on February 3 in Melbourne.

With the names announced for the tri-series in Australia, Sachin Tendulkar will get more chances to get his 100th international hundred in Australia if he fails to hit the landmark in the final test match in Adelaide later this month.

MS Dhoni & Cop. Has lost the third test match in Perth by an innings and 37 runs and now down the four test match series with 3-0.

The master blaster from India Sachin Tendulkar once again missed the historic 100th International century as he was out on 80 individual score int eh second innings against the home side.

Meanwhile, the Australia team is now leading the four test match series by 2-0 lead.

In the first test match played at MCG, India lost the match by 122 runs.
