Second incident of death of two U.S. soldiers, shooting dead triggered on Thursday after an attack stoke out at a base in Kandahar in southern Afghanistan.

As per saying by Western and Afghan officials, it is believed that Afghanistan’s security forces are behind this incident as the attack had been carried out by one man in an Afghan military uniform and a second in civilian clothes.

After this incident, the death toll of NATO soldiers goes to five that has started to increase since the burning of copies of the Koran at a NATO base last month triggered widespread anger and protests.

However actual reason behind attack was not cleared, but the Pentagon said three Afghans were involved, including two soldiers and a civilian who may have been an instructor at the base.

Directing NATO’s staff to go back to the ministries, Brigadier General Carsten Jacobson, the spokesman for NATO’s International Security Assistance Force said, “I strongly reject the notion that our strategy in Afghanistan is failing. There have been suggestions this week that the wheels on the bus are falling off and that is simply not the case.”

A massive threat for Afghan officials is of ties with NATO and if further attacks will attempt by Afghan forces on Western troops, it could damage relation with NATO.

On other side, the United States hopes Afghan forces will be able to confront the Taliban and handle security on their own before NATO combat troops’ scheduled departure by the end of 2014.
