As per reports, thousands of Tibetans joined at the main temple when Jamphel Yeshi (26-year-old), a Tibetan who died after setting himself on fire in New Delhi, was cremated like a martyr by Tibetan exiles at McLeodganj on Friday.
However, the Dalai Lama, who was present in the town, but did not reach the temple to take part in the cremation of Jamphel Yeshi, while Tibetan prime minister-in-exile Lobsang Sangay was in Japan.
Reports have said that huge number of people gathered at the cremation and many of them were backed by the Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC), said to be as one of the leading pro-independence groups, around 5,000 Tibetans came to the streets, resulting a high traffic jams in McLeodganj.
