Country pays tribute to Indira Gandhi on her 95th birth anniversary

The country is today remembering the former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi on her 95th birth anniversary.

President of India Pranab Mukherjee and Vice President Hamid Ansari are the first who came to pay their homage to the former Prime Minister.

Top leaders from all the political parties came to offer floral tributes at her memorial Shakti Sthal on the banks of Yamuna.

From Congress party, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Union Ministers Sushil Kumar Shinde and Kamal Nath were the first to visit Shakti Sthal.

During the visit to Shakti Sthal, tricolour balloons were released by Pranab Mukherjee, Ansari and Sonia Gandhi. Further, patriotic songs were played with a speech of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Moreover, Indira Gandhi was born on November 19, 1917. She was born in the politically influential Nehru family, was the first woman Prime Minister of India.
