As per the latest cricket news, the captain of the Sri Lanka cricket team Mahela Jayawardene has won the toss and election bat first against India in the 5th ODI match of the Commonwealth Bank series.
The match will be played at the same Adelaide pitch that hosted Sunday’s game between Australia and India.
The Sri Lankan captain expressed sadness over the batting failures for his team’s early woes in the CB series – Sri Lanka has yet to win their first match in the tri-series, while India and Australia have registered two wins apiece from three matches.
Moreover, Sachin Tendulkar is playing in today’s match, while opener Virender Sehwag and medium fast bowler Zaheer Khan is rested.
Young Irfan Pathan makes a comeback in the side today, the bowler is doing well at the center and took early wicket of Dilshan on 16 individual runs.
Fast bowler Vinay Kumar opened the bowling attack today and took the wicket of Tharanga on the second ball of the match. Tharanga was gone on Duck. R Ashvin also took an important wicket of Sangakara, who was batting on 31 runs and looked in good form.
Sri Lanka has lost their three wickets so far with just 99 runs on the board in 24.2 over.
In all the three matches so far, Indians have chased a total. In Melbourne, it cost them dear in a rain-curtailed match but in the next two games, it’s been a happy ending.
