It is said in reports that the meeting is called after huge Sikh protest in the state and asking the state Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and the SGPC head to meet the President Pratibha Patil as to cancel the hang till death sentence to Balwant Singh.

Talking to media, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) secretary Daljit Singh Cheema said that Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar will also attend the meeting tomorrow.

Addressing to media, Mr. Cheema said, “The core committee would deliberate upon the directive of Jathedar, Akal Takht pertaining to the case of Rajoana, a convict in the former chief minister Beant Singh’s assassination.”

Meanwhile, Balwant Singh, who is found guilty for the killing of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh and 17 others, has been sentenced to be hanged till death on March 31 by a Chandigarh Court.

A division bench headed by Justice Hemant Gupta has dismissed the petition and the report said, “The argument raised in PIL is that till such time the matter attains finality with the orders of the Supreme Court, the execution of death sentence in respect of Balwant Singh should be stayed, as there is a possibility of setting aside the order passed by this court confirming the death sentence… We do not find any merit in the present petition.”

SAD MLAs to go on thanks tours in Punjab

North Indian State Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal with the newly elected SAD MLAs have been visited on many religious places for following “thanks giving” tours.

Before addressing meeting of newly elected MLAs in Chandigarh, Prakash singh Badal with his son Sukhbir Singh Badal visited Golden Temple and Durgiana Mandir in Amritsar on March 7 also with their family.

After that they carried on for Anandpur Sahib, to being a part of the Hola Mohalla celebrations.

However their “thanks giving mission” would continue till March 14 before the swearing-in ceremony.
