Water crisis to continue in New Delhi, Haryana says NO to Delhi’s plea

Situation of water crisis in the national capital Delhi is seems to be bad as source said that government is trying to solve this hampered situation by getting additional drinking water supply from neighbouring Haryana.

As per reports suggested, from several last weeks, the people of metropolitan National Capital have been facing water shortage. The much worse fact has happened while in South Delhi a major pipeline broke down due to falling an under-construction building.

Delhi Chief Secretary PK Tripathi met with his Haryana counterpart PK Chaudhery on Sunday and requested him to make more water supplies to Delhi from daily supply of 1,000 cusecs so that the problem of water crisis may be sort out, according to source.

It was shocked that Chaudhery clearly denied request to release additional water by saying Haryana was also facing the same situation.

There is a dispute between two states over water crisis on Munak canal. Haryana accused Delhi to itself responsible for its bad situation because of using excess water than the allotted quantity from water treatment plants.

The Munak canal that was built by Haryana and for that Delhi had assisted Rs. 400 crore on the condition that around 80 MGD water will have supplied to it, but Haryana later refused to do same and the dispute has arise.

Moreover, still there is much demand and need of water around 1,100 million gallons per day that may be go ahead of 1,400 mgd in 2017 as per current situation of Delhi Jal Board that has made possible supply of 800 mgd water across the city.

Talking to source, Mr Tripathi insisted that the matter will be forward at the political level where the Centre had set up a Group of Ministers to find a solution as both sides failed to settle the dispute.
