Amid pressure from former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa’s camp, the BJP central leadership would decide to set Lingayat leader Jagadish Shettar as the new Karnataka chief minister, replacing current chief minister Sadananda Gowda, source report.
The decision over changing pattern of Karnataka leadership will be announced today’s evening in scheduled meeting of BJP top brass at BJP President Nitin Gadkari‘s house in Delhi where Gowda would meet with Gadkari and senior leaders LK Advani and Sushma Swaraj.
“Sadananda Gowda will be coming to Delhi at 6:00 pm today to meet Nitin Gadkari, LK Advani and Suhsma Swaraj and then we will inform you after that about the decision after the meeting,” BJP spokesperson, Ravi Shankar Prasad said while interacting with media.
The rural development minister, Jagadish Shettar is the top choice of Yeddyurappa as State’s CM. His posting will be held because of huge support from Yeddyurappa and his supporters including more than half of the BJP‘s state legislators who are always stand behind him.
Moreover, these rebels wanted to back Mr Yeddyurappa as CM, regaining office. But due refusal of BJP top brass leadership, Mr Yeddyurappa demanded to appoint his nominee Jagadish Shettar, another leader from Lingayat caste.
The sworn ceremony of Mr Shettar is likely to hold in before July 16, the date of starting Karnataka Assembly’s news session. However, BJP wanted to delay the leadership changing move, but due to having tough situation created by Yeddyurappa along with rebel ministers from assembly, it forced to act immediately, sources said.
Now today’s 6 pm time will be the most difficult time for Sate BJP which have to make balance between Gowda’s Vokaliga community and Yeddyruppa’s Lingayat community voters as both are called to be present in the BJP top brass meeting.
