Aakash tablet that has launched by HRD Minister Kapil Sibal in last October, is going to be called as “world’s cheapest tablet” as its price for students will be decided only just Rs.1500.

The proposal has sent to HRD for approval, this has assured by the State Commissioner of Technical Education, S Balasubramanyam who said, “Once we get the approval, we will implement the scheme. We are planning to procure 10,000 tablets. Initially, they will be made available to the students of the state universities, engineering and polytechnic colleges.”

As per HRD, the tablet that has designed with an aim to bridge the “digital divide” between the rich and the poor and with cutting price as subsidiary, the government has aimed to provide the tablets in private college and university, which will be available for rent for students who cannot afford them.

However order for several thousands tablets has made by the govt. and the students of Andhra Pradesh where proposal has approved are waiting for the next generation of ‘Aakash’.

Featuring the improved Android operating system, next version of Askash tablet has specifications of a seven-inch touch screen, weighs 350 grams along with a 766 MHz processor and a longer battery life.

No doubt of world’s cheapest tablet’s demand will expecting to be rise because till this month over two million online orders have being placed.

By seeing huge response, the HRD ministries will plans to provide the tablets to 20 crores students over next five years for making easy implementation of e-learning
