VP poll: Jaswant Singh Vs Ansari

With a sudden move, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) today announced name of Jaswant Singh for its vice-president candidature.

The decision came with suggestions of its allies’ top brass in a meet at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) senior leader LK Advani’s house on Monday, as per reports.

BJP’s Jaswant Singh is the Former Union minister of India and now will contest at the race of the Vice-president Poll against Congress candidature for the post -former vice-president Hamid Ansari.

No valid reason has defined by Opposition party for not to back Ansari’s candidature, while asking from Advani, he told reporters, the NDA had objection to the way in which Hamid Ansari had adjourned Lok Sabha during the Lokpal debate

The elections will scheduled in August 7 and Hamid Ansari who will test his fate for a second term, has full support of NCP and UPA-led Congress, need 396 votes to elected in polls.

Although Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee who has refused to say her favour for Mr Pranabh Mukherjee in the presidential election, is not in favour of supporting Mr Ansari. But as per sources said, she may back him as continuously talks are progressing well.

Reports said, Sharad Yadav, a senior leader of the Janata Dal (United), was the first choice of the coalition, the convenor of the NDA, to run for vice-president, but he declined. The JD (U) which is voting for Mr.Mukherjee, said it will support Mr Singh.

Now interesting fact is that whether JD(U) chose side of BJP or UPA. And if it selected UPA again as like President polls, a big victorious weapon would have handled to UPA against BJP.
