Pakistan‘s Afghan border remains closed to NATO as per approval made by Pakistan, reportedly declared by US Embassy.
Pakistan’s officials’ source said that it seemed to indicate the coalition would be allowed to NATO to ship perishable food to its troops in neighboring Afghanistan.
At the end of November last year, 24 Pakistani troops killed in a coalition cross-border attack by American air strikes. Therefore Pakistan closed the crossings to NATO into Afghanistan in retaliation for American air strikes
Pakistan Defense Minister Ahmed Mukhtar said, the Pakistan government will allow NATO to ship perishable items to its troops in Afghanistan for only a limited time and it had asked the coalition not to order any more.
He added the coalition could transport the supplies “by air or by truck.”
It is expected that Pakistan’s Govt. is trying to resume framework for relations with the United States this week. Its temporarily approval to US govt. to pave the way for reopen the supply line is seems its first move to give hand for shaking in a sign of rebuilding relation.
But the U.S. Embassy reaction is revered on this as it said on Thursday that the crossings remained closed. U.S. Officials claimed that they made supply possible through the air route that remains open.
