World Bank sanctions $152 million to increase health facilities in UP

Now Govt. should take essential steps regarding the Health of the public, this has been proved when a US $152 million credit has been approved by The World Bank to Uttar Pradesh.

On Tuesday, in a source of report, it has been cleared that the amount of credit which has been sanctioned, is only for helping the state to improve health outcomes where income levels are low and health indicators are among the poorest in the country.

However the sanctioned project is based on being make the health’s management department stronger and improving accountability systems that will help to bring better health services to the state… And along it, UP govt. will now able to improve its capacity to perform good quality of service.

Talking to Media, Roberto Zagha, World Bank Country Director for India, said in his report, “Inadequate health systems affect the poor most.
According to an estimate, 8% households in UP fall below the poverty line due to extra expenditure incurred for attend to health concerns.”

Also the Senior Health Specialist and the World Bank Team Leader of UP Health Systems Strengthening Project (UPHSSP), Vikram Rajan said, “The focus on improving demand-side accountability will help public service providers become more responsive to the communities they serve,”

By such project, the plan of the state government is to provide the health centre facility under the village levels to improve the responsiveness of service providers. Apart of it, the plan is to create simple feedback mechanisms from the health system and to spread awareness about what people may expect from health service providers.

The meant of this project is to be taken by the World Bank-financed UP Health Systems Development Project that aims to better utilization of resources in health care centre by providing better healthy environment.
