If CBI was under Lokpal Bill, P Chidambaram would be in jail, says Anna Hazare

In a fight against corruption in the country, Anna Hazare is the only name that hit every person’s mind. The Anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare has recently criticized the central government’s steps to ensure the Lokpal Bill did not have control over the CBI, saying the government was “cheating” people to protect “corrupt” ministers.

Talking to media, Anna Hazare said, “If CBI was under Lokpal, P Chidambaram would have been in jail today. If the CBI is kept out, how will the Lokpal be strong? This is a very weak bill. You (government) are protecting corrupt ministers and saying it is a strong Lokpal Bill.”

Meanwhile, Anna Hazare was talking to media at Ralegan Siddhi a day after the Lokpal Bill was approved by the Cabinet.

Moreover, Anna Hazare also targeted the central government for keeping the citizens’ charter out of the bill.

Anna said, “How can the bill be strong if the citizens’ charter is out of the Lokpal’s purview? A common man who seeks redressal of his grievance will have to go through a long channel – from the officer at the local level to the Union government. How can a common man run through this system if he wants to get a ration card or a passport?”

According to Anna Hazare, he would tour five poll-bound states after that a country-wide tour before the general elections.

Anna said to media, “I will tour the country to tell the people how the government has cheated them. They (government) feel nobody can harm them. However, the people will teach them a lesson.”

Anna Hazare promised to continue his agitation. Anna told media that he was “totally fit” to fight for a strong Lokpal.
