As per the latest reports, the ruling government of India, UPA Government, has got a major support from its key NDA constituent Shiv Sena yesterday night assured him of its complete support in his bid for the post of President of India.
While talking to media, Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut said, “The Sena will support Pranab Mukherjee (in the presidential polls).”
Further, the Shiv Sena source said that promise was given to Pranab Mukherjee who called up Shiv Sena Chef Bal Thackeray and his son Uddhav Thackeray on Monday.
Shiv Sena, the older partner of BJP party, was expected to hold talks over the nominations of NDA for the Presidential Polls as well as disappointed about the fact that the alliance has not been able to finalize one name for the post.
Earlier in 2007, Sena supported Pratibha Patil, breaking relations with BJP as Patil hailed from Maharashtra
In the meantime, the opposition party BJP and other NDA constituents had at that time backed late Bhairon Singh Shekhawat for the post.
