2G case: A Raja gets bail after 15 months, out of Tihar Jail

Being accused for 15 months, a long period of passing in jail in 2G spectrum allocation scam case, Former telecom minister A Raja, on Tuesday ready to walk on the street of public as special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court granted his bail and after few hours freed him from Tihar Jail.

CBI court’s judge O P Saini granted bail of Raja on a surety of Rs 25 lakh and would not try to influence any witnesses while on bail. Along with this, court also restricted his entry in Tamil Nadu without court’s permission and also directed not to visit the office of the Department of Telecom (DoT).

As per report, the case registered under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), over an illegal gratification of Rs 550 crore, accepted through Kalanidhi in the Aircel-Maxis deal.

Reportedly, a contract between Anantha Krishnan –owned Maxis Communication and Sivashankaran-owned Aircel had dealt to invest Rs 550 crore in Sun TV and Sun DTH. In return Maxis got a stake of Aircel.

P Chidambaram 300x256 Relief for P Chidambaram as 2G case dismissedToday, trial court dismissed the Swamy’s plea against Home Minister P Chitambaram to make him a co-accused over 2G scam.

Special CBI judge OP Saini delivered his judgment after 1 this afternoon to a packed court-room and has ruled that all the allegations filed against P Chidambaram as tried for criminal culpability in the telecom scam have been rejected.

Announcing his judgment, Judge OP Saini said, “Prayer of Swamy to make Chidambaram an accused is dismissed”.

Reacting on the rejecting of a petition filed against Chidambaram to be made a co-accused in the telecom scam, which was allegedly fathered by A Raja during his infamous term as Telecom Minister, Mr Swamy said that he was surprised by the order and that he announced in his statement that he would approached to High Court within three months against Special CBI Judge OP Saini’s order in the 2G scam.Swamy said, “I am surprised because my evidence against Chidambaram was complete.”

2G Scam: SC Judge to hear Chidambaram matter at 12:15pm

On the basis of plea filled by Janata Party Chief Subramanian Swamy, the Supreme Court had cancelled all the 122 telecom licenses on Friday that allocated by former communications minister A Raja to eight telecom companies.

And the Court left the issue whether “Chidambaram should be made co-accused or not” to the trial court of Special CBI in Delhi to decide on Swamy’s plea.

The apex court had cancelled the 122 telecom licenses without found any involvement as a part of the Prime Minister and P Chidambaram. Then it left the case to the lower court and asked not to get influenced by its decision.
