In Kolkata at the place of Dhakuria, there had been a major incident come into existence in the private hospital.
At least around 40 patients along with some doctors and nurses were caught in fire inside the hospital early this morning.
The police and fire brigade sources said the fire which was broke out in the electrical department in the basement of the AMRI hospital, spread to the first and second floors, trapping patients, with the fire brigade called in at 4:00 am.
While fire brigades called, the police and firemen put inside from the window panes to safely move out the patients from the billowing fire and tried to stop the smoke that engulfed the building.
Such tremendous incident was really out of control which was inside the ICU, ICCU, ITU and Critical Care units of the hospital. But the fire men were continuously trying to hold the situation .they were trying to locate oxygen cylinders on the floors, where chances of fire explosion were increased.
However R K Pachnanda, the Commissioner of Kolkata Police and West Bengal Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim were both present at the spot.
By explaining the incident, Hakim said that though the firemen were trying, the fire was still not under control. A source said,” Thick smoke is hindering the operations by 25 fire tenders.”
The operations of hospital were checking out by Personnel of the Disaster Management Group who were also visited the hospital and were assisting in the operations.
