No declarations against military takeover in Pakistan: US Officials

According to the latest world news, tension is growing day-by-day between the civilian and military leadership in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the US officials has recently said in an interview that it has not received or confirmed any declarations from the Pakistani army that it would step a takeover in the country.

While talking to media, an US Official from Pentagon, Navy Capt John Kirby said, “I’m not aware that we’ve sought any assurances, and I don’t think we’re aware that we’ve been given any. This is a matter for Pakistani officials and the government leaders there, military and civilian, to work out.”

In the meantime, the Pentagon Press Secretary George Little have announced that US chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen Martin E Dempsey, has has talks with the senior officials of the Pakistani Army chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.

Further talking to media, Mr. Little said, “My understanding is that Chairman Dempsey has been in contact with Gen Kayani. It was a productive and professional conversation. I’m not going to get into the details. But that call has taken place.”

However, the timing of the talks was not revealed to the media officials by the US officials. Though, it said that such talks came in recent days.

On Wednesday, Pakistan forced into fresh disorder with the controlling army warning Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani of “grievous consequences” for his past criticized statement on the Pakistani army as well as country’s intelligence agency ISI, and the Premier taking them head on by sacking the defence secretary over the memo scandal.
