Infosys announces 10,000 jobs by March 2012

As per the latest news, one of the leading IT Company Infosys Technologies has recently announced that it will soon launch a construction work on its first software development centre in West Bengal, at Rajarhat near here, in three to six months.

While talking to media, Infosys Technologies Executive Co-Chairman S Gopalakrishnan said, “We have paid the money and got possession of the land. We hope to start construction work in three to six months.”

Mr. Gopalakrishana further told media that in the first stage, 5,000 jobs would be allotted and the estimated investment would be Rs 100 crore.

Addressing to media, he said that around 35,000 professionals had been already hired by the company in this financial year, and more 10,000 would be hired by the end of March, 2012. At present, the headcount of the company is 1.40 lakh.

While answering to a question that whether company would move its focus outside the US and Europe because of the reduce speed in these economies, he said, “Any shift will take time.”

He said, “We are looking at the markets of China, South Africa, Malaysia and Indonesia.”

Infosys Technologies Executive Co-Chairman then also added that in spite of the internaitonal turmoil, the IT sector has shown resilience and there have been no lay-offs.

He said, “There would, however, be consolidation in IT sector and those who have the niche capability will survive.”
